Trump's CIA Director: Execute Edward Snowden
Trump’s pick for CIA director wants Edward Snowden to face the death penalty. Cenk Uygur, Brett Erlich, Jimmy Dore, and Michael Shure, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. https://www.tytnetwork.com/join
“Trump has reportedly picked Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) to run the Central Intelligence Agency. Would sort of CIA director would Mike Pompeo be?
Well, for one thing, he thinks Edward Snowden should be executed:
That's Pompeo speaking on C-Span's Washington Journal this past February. (You can watch the full appearance here.) His comments came in the midst of a discussion of Hillary Clinton's emails and the Benghazi scandal. Here is a transcript of his Snowden remarks:
It's absolutely the case that we have not been able to secure all the American information that we needed to, and that we've had the traitor Edward Snowden steal that information. He should be brought back from Russia and given due process, and I think the proper outcome would be that he would be given a death sentence for having put friends of mine, friends of yours, who served in the military today, at enormous risk, because of the information he stole and then released to foreign powers.”

Edward Snowden Says Trump's New CIA Director Wants All Dissidents Like Himself Put To Death!
NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said the touted new director of the CIA under the Trump administration believes that "dissidents such as myself" should be put to death, during a Q&A in Oslo in which he participated via video link from Moscow on Friday. Snowden said that “under the new president, as the news today says, the new CIA director [Mike Pompeo] is an individual who believes that dissidents such as myself should be put to death, they believe that that is the appropriate solution to disagreeing with the government.” He also commented on the global role of the US government, stating: “I don’t think it’s controversial to say the United States government is the most powerful government in the history of the world. We have never seen a state with this much influence.”

Edward Snowden NBC Interview - I was Trained as a Spy
Brian Williams nabbed an exclusive interview with Edward Snowden for NBC News. Full interview airs tonight on NBC. Snowden is still wanted for leaking classified NSA data in June 2013, and is currently living in exile in Russia. Williams traveled to Moscow for the interview.
In advance of this highly-anticipated interview, NBC News has released a clip in which Snowden details his professional background. He has been alternately labeled everything from a "hacker" to a "low level analyst" in the media, but according to Snowden, the truth is a bit more complicated.
He explained to Williams that he was "trained as a spy in sort of the traditional sense of the word." He went on to explain that he lived and worked undercover under a false name in foreign countries.
In response to the "low level analyst" claims, Snowden said the government is "trying to use one position that I've had in a career here or there to distract from the totality of my experience." He then detailed his background, saying that he'd worked for the NSA and the CIA overseas, and worked for the DIA as a lecturer at the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy.
Snowden did indicate that he worked primarily with computer systems, and not with people, but he said it was "somewhat misleading" to classify him as a "low level analyst."
The full interview with Brian Williams will air on "NBC Nightly News" Tonight, May 28th, at 10 Eastern Time. 7 PM on the West Coast.

Snowden on Trump 'A dark moment' but not the end|BREAKING NEWS
What does Edward Snowden think the future will look like with a President Donald Trump at the helm of the US National Security Agency?
"This is a dark moment in our nation's history, but it is not the end of history," said Snowden, the former NSA contractor who revealed widespread government surveillance, including the bulk collection of internet user information and phone records.
Speaking remotely from Russia to an event hosted by search engine company StartPage in Amsterdam, Snowden urged the audience to get involved in protecting online privacy. Snowden appears regularly at events via video conference. His lawyers recently launched a campaign asking President Barack Obama to pardon him of espionage and other criminal charges Snowden faces for taking and leaking NSA secrets.
"We have to be political," Snowden said. "You have to talk about these things."

Snowden pointed to 2008, when many believed President-elect Obama would pump the brakes on surveillance programs developed by the administration of President George W. Bush. Obama's efforts fell short, Snowden said, as he urged the crowd not to count on politicians to rein in government overreach.
"This will never be the work of politicians. This will only be the work of the people," he said. "We cannot hope for an Obama and we should not fear a Donald Trump -- rather, we should build it ourselves."
Snowden went on to encourage the young people watching to start working on technology that could "guarantee human rights," and not leave it up to governments check their own power.
Before noting that he enjoys his own role as an advocate for freedom from government surveillance, Snowden urged others to respond to the US election by getting involved in pro-privacy causes.
"A vote is a start," he said, "but it will never be enough.
