In policy pronouncements over the last two administrations, the protection of the American homeland was regularly identified as the first priority of U.S. missile defense efforts. Homeland missile defense today is provided by the Ground-based Midcourse Defense program and other elements of the larger Ballistic Missile Defense System. The defenses fielded today have advanced considerably since limited defensive operations began in late 2004, but nevertheless remain too limited, too modest, relative to emerging threats. The Missile Defense Agency’s path to improve the system may require additional effort to stay ahead of even limited missile threats. This report explains how the current system works as well as current and potential plans to modernize the system, and offers recommendations for its future evolution.

RUSSIAN S 300 & S 400 FAIL TO DETECT AMERICAN MADE ISRAELI F 35I ADIRS OVER SYRIA !!

Israeli Air Force has hit several targets in Syrian territory in recent weeks.

On Sep. 08, 2019 Israeli F 35I Adirs struck positions at the Iraqi-Syrian border near al-Qa’im and al-Bukamal.
The same target was hit again on September 17.

The target is alleged to be an Iranian military base.

The interesting point to note is that it seems F 35s are able to strike at will even though they have to navigate over areas protected by S 300 & S 400.

Israel’s defense establishment has unveiled a laser-based system on Wednesday. The system is designed to provide protection from different kinds of projectiles like unguided rockets that are launched against Israel by knocking them out of the air.

The new system will complement the country’s existing layered air defense which consists of several air defense systems like Iron Dome, Arrow.

As per reports, the new system will undergo testing in the coming months and is likely to be operational within a year and a half.

Laser-based systems are being developed by several countries and are seen as a future of air defense.

ISRAEL DESTROYS RUSSIAN PANTSIR S1 BUT S 400 IS A DIFFERENT BEAST !

On 21 January, the Israeli military stated that it has hit Iranian and Syrian targets around Damascus, including the Russian made Pantsir-S1 air defense system.
The Israeli military statement stated, “During our strike, dozens of Syrian surface-to-air missiles were launched, despite clear warnings to avoid such fire. In response, we also targeted several of the Syrian Armed Forces’ aerial defense batteries,”
It also released footage showing the several Russian-made Pantsir-S1 missile defense systems were taken out.

It is to be noted that on May 10 last year, Israeli fighter jets had taken out Pantsir-S1 for the first time.
