The US Secretly Built A 6th Generation Jet Fighter
With so few 5th Generation jet fighters in service today, having an aerial ace up your sleeve has never been more important. The capabilities that the next wave of aircraft brings into play will determine who is the top dog in the skies, making unique features crucial for future air superiority.
It’s been 15 years since the first of the 5th gen, so this begs the question – have the US already built a 6th generation fighter while the world has been playing catch up for more than a decade?
Modern aircraft are marvels of human technological progress and represent
a nations air superiority and military might. The current 5th Generation of fighters are complex and sophisticated machinery designed to be a
significant improvement over the earlier 4th or 4+ Generation of fighters
which dominates most of a countrys air forces.
Developed after spending billions of dollars and years of research, the 5th
generation type of fighter was first deployed by the United States Air Force
in the form of the F-22 Raptor and later the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. But
they are not alone in fielding a 5th Generation fighter anymore, China has
developed its Chengdu J-20, or the Mighty Dragon, and Russia with their
Sukhoi Su-57, which saw combat action recently over Syria. With these
new fighter jets out of the design phase, and being actively produced, you
can bet that the military-industrial complex of various countries has already
begun work on the next generation of fighter aircraft or better known as the
6th Generation fighter.

Northrop Grumman has stood up a pair of teams dedicated to developing a “Next-generation” fighter for both the Navy and Air Force, years before the US Navy or Air Force intends to issue requests for information on potential replacements for current aircraft.
The Navy’s program is dubbed F/A-XX, while the Air Force’s effort is known as F-X.
