Wavestream Corporation has received orders totaling more than $50 million from General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, which uses Wavestream’s Ka-band SSPAs with integrated block upconverters (BUCs) on the Army’s new Satellite Transportable Terminals (STTs).
The product being delivered to General Dynamics is a 50-Watt Ka-band SSPA with integrated BUC, part of a family of Ka-band products by Wavestream which includes 12-Watt and 25-Watt models. The satellite communications terminals are used by soldiers in the field to securely access communications services using an enhanced Internet Protocol-based satellite communications network for flexible and reliable transmission and reception of high-bandwidth video, voice and data.
“This order is, without a doubt, a testament to Wavestream’s proven value, reliability and performance,” said Cliff Cooke, Wavestream President & CEO. “We are driving Ka product line capacity to 100+ units per month to accommodate the increased demand, and are proud to support General Dynamics’ innovative solution for the Army. These Ka-band systems will provide critical real-time bandwidth to our soldiers in hazardous and extreme conditions in the field.”
