Sky Perfect JSat wins World Cup rights
Merged Japanese pay-TV platform Sky Perfect JSat will screen all 64 matches from the 2010 FIFA World Cup football tournament having secured exclusive satellite broadcasting rights.
Due to be played in June and July 2010 in South Africa, Sky Perfect JSat said it would “bring viewers in Japan vivid, multi-channel coverage” of the event. Specific channel planning is yet to be completed.
Sky Perfect JSat was formed in October 2008 from the merger of JSat Corp, Sky Perfect Communications and Space Communications Corp. As well as pay-TV distribution and broadcasting via the Sky Perfect platform, the merged company also owns businesses including customer management, mobile communications and entertainment, and telecoms and optical fibre carriers.
