DIALOGUE, SOFIA - The Albanian public broadcaster RTVSH could end up with two DTT multiplexes, each carrying up to 20 TV channels.
Speaking at a conference in Sofia entitled Role of Electronic Media in Ensuring Intercultural Dialogue in the Digital Age, Zimo Krutaj of the National Council for Radio and TV in Albania said this is currently a proposal being considered.
Employing MPEG-4, RTVSH would have the option of operating two national channels (it currently has one), eight FTA thematic channels, 11 regional services and six pay-per-view services.
Interestingly, Albania was one of the first countries in CEE to introduce DTT, but the service, which is operated by DitAlb, remains unlicensed.
