The French Parliament has voted in favour of a ‘must carry’ status for all digital terrestrial channels, including those in HD on all satellite platforms.
Accepting an amendment i n the French audiovisual law, all broadcasters have to grant permission to DTH operators to carry their signal. The costs of distribution to be borne by the satellite operator. This includes all HD channels as well.
The change comes at a time when there are two issues between broadcasters and DTH platforms in the country. Bis Television from the Groupe AB has tried to get carriage of the M6 and W9 channels and Orange TV has problems getting access to the FTA broadcasts of Canal+ for its DTH platform
