C.H.I.P. the $9 computer - Unboxed and running!
מחשב זעיר ב 9 דולר
The C.H.I.P. $9 computer is here! I unbox it for you and boot it up to see what $9 gets you (a lot in my opinion!). I give it two thumbs up, looking forward to experimenting with C.H.I.P. in the future!
*** Early adopters with boot up issues please note!! An issue with the CHIP was found and a patch released in Feb 2016. My CHIP also started to refuse to boot after a number of successful boot ups and this patch fixed that problem. I did a video about the patch here at[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Features I really like:
- has the OS pre-loaded so right out the box you power up and it gives you a beautiful graphical user interface. Great for beginners!
- has the ability to manage / charge 3.7 volt LiPo battery for backup or for running projects without line power
- built in 4 GB flash memory for programs
- GUI also has open source office programs and a web browser. Very easy to use
C.H.I.P. began as a Kickstarter project. More information about it can be found here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Parallella: The Most Energy Efficient Supercomputer on the Planet - Ray Hightower of WisdomGroup
Parallella is a single-board computer roughly the size of a credit card or Raspberry Pi. Parallella runs Linux. It has 18 cores (2 ARM, 16 RISC) and you can buy it online for about $150. This presentation tells why we care about parallelism and briefly shows how parallel execution differs from serial.
