(france... :/), israel cancelled the project after its development was considered as but finished and was only at late system tests - due to the facts that israel could not continue to fund its production for the IAF which ordered only 75 jets instead of 140 and the fact that half of its financial support came from the US, yes only 50% which was also cheaper to support than the F-16 for its benefits, by fear that it will risk the future export program of the F-16 to foreign countries and for the facts that "a small country like Israel" has made an aircraft which was better than the F-16 (which wouldnt happen because Israel promised and sworn to keep it for itself by its word unless the US will agree that we will export, its mainly one of these reasons, i belive it.),,, in the future and put pressures on Israel to cancel\ refused to help to support its initial production at least to give the gloryful Israeli holy airforce its proving own specific aircraft which was the state of the art fully homemade aircraft that back than no other aircraft matched that was made with discretion, instead, israel signed on a contract that the US will supply Israel with fighter jets of the f-16 and f-15 which the F-16 and some parts of the F-15 will be upgraded cooperativly with the US, the plans were, the US- we will give you jets and you will give us technology, many upgrades , the best upgrades and the latest state of the art the technology that the US use come from, sorry, Israel, yes, this is one of the reasons that Israel is also founded financially so well by its ally the US, Israel has always been an ally of the US!
today, Israel make the best drones\military technologies and other systems for medicine . besides helping the US and other countries with their military defences and tactical attachments, Israel works with India, Israel sold upgraded jets to south africa that craved for them and upgraded the "Kfir" C7 series (F-21 Cheetah) in order to sell and support some countries in south america.
the Lavi had these advantages compared to the F-16:
1. could make sharper turns and could carry heavier bombs
3. was faster and far more advanced technologically and had better systems (whats called avionics)
5. was cheaper by 70% to manufacture than the F-16
6. could also outperform the F16 the F-15 and the F-22 AND THE SU 35
7. was the ultimate affording oponent jet agAinst russian made aircrafts.

the tecnoligies of the lavi are also in the french rafale and british jet fighter
the missile designed for the lavi are today in the f18 and f22 and f117
