S 500 WILL BE DEPLOYED TO PROTECT CRITICAL LOCATIONS LIKE MAJOR POPULATION CENTERS & MILITARY INFRASTRUCTURE . 

IN INTEGRATED AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS ENVIRONMENT , S 500 WILL HOOK UP WITH OTHER SYSTEM INCLUDING S 400 TO FORM A COMPLEX NETWORK OF AIR DEFENSE UMBRELLA.

WHILE THE S-400 IS DESIGNED TO DEFEND AGAINST SHORT AND MEDIUM RANGE MISSILES, THE S-500 WILL BE DESIGNED TO COMBAT EVEN INTERCONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSILES OR ICBMS.

GENERAL DIRECTOR OF THE ALMAZ-ANTEY CORPORATION IGOR ASHURBEILI:

FOR INTERCEPTION OF BALLISTIC MISSILES, THE S-500 WILL “MOSTLY” USE NUCLEAR WARHEADS BECAUSE THESE CAN DESTROY “THE ENTIRE CLOUD OF INCOMING WARHEADS WITH NO NEED TO DETERMINE TRUE THREATS FROM DUMMIES”.

AS PER SOME SOURCES, THE S-500 SYSTEM CAN DETECT BALLISTIC MISSILE AT A RANGE OF 2 000 KM AND WARHEADS OF BALLISTIC MISSILES AT A RANGE OF 1 300 KM. IT CAN DEFEAT BALLISTIC MISSILES BEFORE THEIR WARHEADS RE-ENTER ATMOSPHERE.

DUE TO THE MASSIVE RANGE OF S 500, EXPERTS BELIEVE IT WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE OUT LOW-ORBIT SATELLITES ACTING AS ANTI SATELLITE WEAPON.



CONCLUSION:

S 400 & THE UPCOMING S 500 WILL FORM THE BACKBONE OF RUSSIA’S AIR DEFENSE. THE SYSTEMS POSE A GENUINE THREAT TO ENEMY AIRCRAFTS INCLUDING THE 5TH GENERATION FIGHTERS LIKE F 35 AND F 22.

S 500 ALSO HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CHANGE THE STRATEGIC EQUILIBRIUM BY GIVING THE MOSCOW THE ABILITY TO INTERCEPT EVEN ICBM.

The Russian S-500 missile system. This isn't an upgraded S-400, its a totally new missile system coming out in the next couple of years. They're designed to take down Jamming aircraft, ICBM, cruise missiles and more or less anything that can fly. It can intercept 10 supersonic/ballistic targets at speeds of up to 16,000 mph and has a range of 600 km.. It cant be jammed. It can detect a target at 3,000 km. It has a response time of 4 seconds, unlike the Patriot which takes 90 seconds and uses satellites. Now if there's a replacement spy plane going over Russia etc, it obviously needs to be stealthy and fly very high and fast, possibly in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO)

During the cold war the MiG 31 Foxhound fitted with R-33 missiles was the only thing that came close to the SR-71. Even though the MiG could achieve Mach-3 ish,and achieve lock on, it could only sustain max velocity for a shot period of time before engine damage. Most of the time when they picked up the SR-71 on radar then sent up the interceptors or MiG's, Blackbird was well gone. They would even fire SAM's at it.

If you compare Russian SAM's back then to what they are now, they're totally on another level. Russia's new S-4 & 500 SAM systems working in tandem, are designed to take out more or less anything, even space threats like ICBM's. If we had a replacement for the SR-71, and all the media attention was just for show, to make Russia think everyone has given up watching them after the cold war ended, they've got have something very high, like in a low Earth orbit  (LEO) with stealth to avoid the Russian missile shield. You see the USA hasn't got a space based radar system, it was scrapped a few years ago due to cost. So in reality NATO is in the same place as they were back in the 1980's when it comes to keeping an eye on Russia.

 The only engine theoretically capable of this is the British SABRE engine. Its being built in the UK for a single stage to orbit space plane called SKYLON. Although it did go Top-Secret for a while. It may have been sold under license to the CIA/Lockheed Martin, or at least the heat exchanger technology. The engine can do in excess of Mach-5 in Jet mode before it transforms into a rocket engine. The conventional Jet engine is limited to speed, because the air entering the engine becomes as hot as the burning fuel. This is a problem, because a jet engine needs expansion as the fuel and air burn. There needs to be a differential. This SABRE engine overcomes this is because it has special heat exchanger's within the engine to cool the air at very high velocity. This means that the rocket engine doesn't need to take the extra fuel or oxidizer(liquid oxygen) to propel it into space. It takes it from the atmosphere.

Once this S-500 missile system comes on-line in the next few years, we may see the USA declassify their spy-spy plane, just like they did when the MiG-31 started to lock on to the SR-71. Although there's one main thing, we don't even know if it exists or not yet. A scaleable propulsion platform

SABRE - Synergetic Air Breathing Rocket Engine - is a new class of engine for propelling both high speed aircraft and spacecraft. SABRE engines are unique in delivering the fuel efficiency of a jet engine with the power and high speed ability of a rocket.
Unlike jet engines, which are only capable of powering a vehicle up to Mach 3, three times the speed of sound, SABRE engines are capable of Mach 5.4 in air-breathing mode, and Mach 25 in rocket mode for space flight. They are simply going to revolutionise the way we travel around the globe, and into orbit. Like jet engines, SABRE can be scaled in size to provide difference levels of thrust for different applications which is crucial to our success - it's going to enable a whole generation of air and space vehicles.

With a clear ground test and development programme.

There are three core building blocks to the SABRE engine, the pre-cooler, the engine core and the thrust chamber. Each of these systems can be developed and validated using ground based demonstrations which saves cost and time relative to flight test, a design feature that benefitted the development of the propeller and jet engine, We plan to demonstrate each of these independently over the next four years, beginning with a high temperature test of the pre cooler.
We’re about to start building a significant new UK test site to test critical subsystems and aim to test a fully integrated engine core in 2020. This is the crucial step towards a SABRE powered flight test vehicle – a veritable Kitty Hawk moment for the 21st century. We’re already working with partners to lay the groundwork for the first SABRE powered vehicles that will follow the SABRE ground and flight test programme.

Providing solutions for advanced manufacturing

We’re developing a suite of aerospace technologies for SABRE – the Synergetic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine. Our core capabilities are in the development, manufacture and testing of ultra-lightweight heat exchangers and propulsion systems. The range of technologies which enable high speed air and space vehicles are also applicable to many other thermal, power and propulsion systems. Our heat exchanger technology has the potential to revolutionise the way we approach thermal management across a range of industries, from aerospace to motorsport, industrial processes, and oil and gas.
Our proprietary heat exchanger technology is the most powerful means of cooling air in the world. A pre-cooler of the same weight as a small car (~1 tonne) can remove 400 MW of heat from the air – that’s the equivalent of a small power station. The cooled air enters a compressor like a jet engine, and the pre-cooler allows it to do so at any temperature up to 1,000°C.


A heat exchanger exchanges heat between gases or liquids which are at different temperatures. Everyday examples include air conditioning and intercoolers in cars, where pipes filled with cold gas cool the air flowing through. We have developed extremely high performance heat exchangers for a number of different roles in the SABRE engine. While some of the SABRE heat exchangers are tubular, others are manufactured in micro-channel plate configurations. These are being tested in progressively more demanding conditions before being integrated into our test engine.
