Among the guests were Franz Beckenbauer, Matthias Sammer, FC Bayern director Christian Nerlinger, DFL Officer Tom Bender and producer Oliver Berben with girlfriend Barbara Meier, all of them wearing compulsory 3D glasses. According to a press release from Sky, “all were enthusiastic about the viewing experience of the future.”

Today we have written television history: On this memorable evening, we have seen, what will be possible in the future with HDTV. 3D is the HD experience of the future and the logical evolution of HDTV. As TV innovation leader in Germany and Austria we are proud to have the first live HD 3D show production in Germany. “
Franz Beckenbauer is reported to have said: “The pictures I’ve seen here today are fantastic. During my lifetime I have seen many television developments and I am sure that with HD 3D we are now at the beginning of a new era in TV technology.”
